Ink Type
EB Curable Inks
EB curable inks from Kao are formulated as a safe, cost-efficient, durable, and reliable alternative to UV-curable and LED-curable inks. Rather than curing an ink liquid using photoinitiators, electron beam (EB) ink technology actually changes the chemical composition of the ink.
Common EB Curable Ink Applications
Compared to that of the traditional drying methods, EB curable inks undergo full curing, without heat, penetrating the substrate to reduce the risk of migration. This supports many common industry applications for printing products and packaging.
- Food Packaging
- Beverage Containers
- Pharmaceutical Packaging
- Consumer Products
- Foils
- Labels
- Thin Films
Benefits of EB Inks
For food packaging and consumer product applications, the absence of photoinitiators in EB inks reduces odor and the potential for migration. Other benefits include:
Environmental advantages
Volatile Organic Compound (VOC) free and do not produce other pollutant emissions, and do not generate residues or energy waste in their production.
Wider range
EB offers more physical properties than any other curing technology.
Highly crosslinked curing of inks, coatings, and laminated or PSA (pressure sensitive adhesives).
Safer for food products.
No odor or extractables Works without photoinitiators, which avoids many regulatory constraints related to food packaging printing.*
More resistance to wear, abrasion and chemicals
It means savings in running and maintenance costs, and on the other hand, the waste reduction compared to other technologies
